How germs spread
Infections can spread a number of ways:
-
direct contact: people touching each other, kissing, etc.
-
indirect contact: food, water, etc.
-
droplets: coughing, sneezing, or shouting
-
airborne: flu, colds, and certain other viruses.
Breaking the chain to prevent transmission.
Everyone MUST wash their hands:
-
after using the toilet
-
after changing dirty diapers
-
before eating
-
before preparing meals or formula
-
after touching eyes, nose or mouth
Hand washing.
The mechanics of hand washing is the secret to good hand washing. When washing hands:
-
use running lukewarm water and liquid soap.
-
wash hands for a minimum of 20 seconds.
-
use friction when hand washing, paying close attention to the area between the fingers and around the fingernails.
-
use a paper towel to dry your hands: then use a dry paper towel to turn off the faucet.
Good common sense.
